Project Notes
Majoring in media arts, with a focus on video and audio, my attention has shifted specifically into post production in my final year at Highlands. While I do some videography, the goal in all of my work is always to take something, and make it ten times better than it was shot. I hope to continually pursue short documentaries, and promotional video work, as I strive to tell a story in even the most mundane of subjects.
I have been dreaming of this project since the moment I heard about the Seabury scholarship in August of 2015. To see it come from an initial thought, to a script, and finally on a large screen has been one of the most important but challenging things I could have ever done for myself. You learn a million new things when you’re constantly forced to do things that you do no know how to do, for the sake of your film. For the gift of this experience, I am thankful beyond words to the advisors who selected me, Mary and David, and the Seabury foundation. As for the inspiration of who I want to be professionally, Jeremy Wanek has shared his passion for post production, tirelessly mentoring me as an editor through hundreds of hours of creation.
They Call Me Mom has given me the opportunity to spend day after day with a family that has more love for one another, than anything I’ve ever see in my life. But that didn’t just include the fun things. I watched kids fight, messes being made, injuries happening, yet my initial inspired feelings toward them just seemed to grow, and grow, and grow the more I filmed.
